Match Brows With Hair

Brows frame your face and draw attention to your eyes. But the wrong color can wash you out. So the key is to fill them in so that they complement your hair but don't match it perfectly.

Brunette
If you have chestnut hair, look for honey or warm on the label. Those with chocolaty hair should go for medium brown. Try Covergirl Brow & Eyemakers Pencil in Honey Brown (above) or Midnight Brown ($5, at drugstores).

Black
Go with a dark- or medium- brown pencil ( the latter looks best on fair- skinned women with light eyes) but never black, says Foote. Try Clinique Superfine Liner for Brows in deep Brown or Soft Brown

Blonde
Brown should match the darkest shade on your head. Fill them in with a light-brown (taupe) pencil. A good Taupe brow pencil is Anastasia Beverly Hills Perfect Brow, works pretty well.

Red
Put down the copper pencil. Few natural redheads have ginger brows. A reddish brown is more flattering . Try using Lorac Creamy Brow Pencil in Auburn at Sephora really good.

Dark Under- Eye Circles

Every morning when I wake up, I always seem to have dark under-eye circles. I don't like looking tired when I'm really not! I've tried numerous cover-ups and creams, but they haven't helped at all. How can I look awake and ready for the day?

Dark circles are often hereditary, which can be a drag because it means there's no real way to prevent them (darn genetics!). But luckily for those of us who suffer from the dreaded discoloration, there are ways to treat and cover up dark under eye circles.

The biggest mistakes are to use a heavier concealer around eye area. These are best for sides of nose and blemishes and only should be used in extreme moderation. Try using foundation first to see how much of the job it takes care of  then using a concealer in a tone a bit lighter than your skin color, in a brush form that is targeted for brightening the under eye area. Use this in the entire under eye area. If that didn't do the trick then use a heavier concealor which matches skin color exactly on only the lower part of orbital bone (where the darkest crescent forms). If you have dark circles under the eyes it is best to stick with light shimmering eye shadow and to skip the heavy eyeliner. Heavy eyeliners will add more shadowing and light tone shadows will brighten all over eye area."Clarins Instant Light Eye Perfecting Base to even and brighten the lids which help brighten whole area. If all else fails, try using a "pop of bright lipstick" to draw attention away from eye circles!

DIY At Home Blow Dry (hair)

Put the Squeeze On

Once you're out of the shower, gently press chunks of hair with a cotton T-shirt; it's so soft, it won't ruffle the hair's outer layer and bring on—gasp!—fuzzies the way a rough towel can.

Flip Out

It's best to blow-dry hair someplace other than your steamy bathroom, to escape the humidity. Tip your head over, and dry roots as you run your fingers through hair, Gurgov recommends. Straighten up while hair is still a bit damp.

Divide and Conquer

Apply another round of product; during hair-raising weather, it's key to keeping frizz under control. If you have straight hair that could use fullness, go for mousse. If your hair is wavy or curly, reach for a straightening balm.
Starting at the back of your head, use a wide-tooth comb to separate hair into four sections—the top, the sides and the back.

Bring the Heat

Unclip the back section of hair. With a medium round brush, lift a 2-inch piece from the roots. Keep the dryer about 1 inch above as you firmly pull the brush out.
"A shiny blowout comes from tension you create with your brush as you dry".

Cool It

When a piece of hair is dry, blast it with a shot of cool air to seal in sleekness. Repeat until all the hair in that section is dry. Then go through steps 3 and 4 with the left, right and top sections.
When they're all dry, mist with a flexible-hold hairspray. That's all you do—so sexy!

Beauty Tips The Magic Wand (mascara)

A magic wand that can give you an instant makeover.

Hooded
Brush a lengthening mascara onto your top lashes only. The extra length can offset eyelid droopiness the wand and pull the lashes upward as you brush on the mascara.

Deep-Set

Beauty Tips| How to Get Rid of a Pimple: 1-7

  1. Do not touch or pop the pimple. It will only make the pimple more obvious and risk infection and scarring. Instead, take up the following routine, twice a day, until it disappears.
  2. Wash your hands thoroughly before you touch your face.
  3. Wash your face gently but thoroughly with a mild, medicated soap and warm water. The water shouldn't be steaming hot; it should be just a little warm. Do not use a washcloth, as the scrubbing action could distribute bacteria to other parts of your face. Use your hands. Wash for about 30 seconds.
      4. Pat your skin dry with a towel. Always pat; don't wipe or rub. Wiping can move bacteria on your  face and spread it by redistributing it in other places.
      5. Apply mandelic acid, benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid topical cream on the pimple. Mandelic acid has antibacterial properties which will kill the acne causing bacteria, Propionibacterium acnes." If the spot is under the skin surface and hurts when touched, use benzoyl peroxide. Salicylic Acid should work well for all other acne spots.
6.After topical treatment is dry, apply a basic face moisturizer (preferably allergy-tested, fragrance free, and oil free). Without moisturizing, the skin around the pimple can dry and irritate your skin, possibly making the pimple more inflamed and noticeable. Some contain a mild sunscreen, which is often recommended with some acne washes and medications.
7.Dermabrasion removes the redness. A simple natural home remedy for this is to use the skin inside of an egg shell. Google "dermabrasion with eggs".

Beauty Tips| Why You Should Start Sticking Your Mascara In Your Bra

Apparently there is a majore beauty benefit from sticking your mascara in your bar while you do the rest of your makeup. "I go through a tube of mascara a month since I like to use it a lot. But I've found I can extend a tube by a few weeks just by using body heat on the tube for 5 mintues each day. I just tuck my mascara in my bra cup while i do my base makeup and the mascara is then warmed up enough to go on super smooth. With both application ease and getting lots more applications out of one tube by doing this. Don't know if this would work on all mascaras, but works great with Cover Girl Professional Lash."

Highlight
Apply a champagne shadow along your brow bone below your arch. This will define your shape and add a touch of shimmer to draw attention to your brows.

Beauty Tips| Complexion Concealer

Concealer is supposed to mask problems but applied the wrong way, it can actually magnify a zit.

1. Look for a matte or oil-free concealer
It will adhere better to the skin and wont slide off like a creamy formula can. One with sulfur also helps keep skin clear.

2. Remember light shade enhance dark ones recede.
Never put a too-light concealer or shimmery powder onto a raised bump its like shinning a spotlight on it. Match the concealer to your skin, then use a brush to lightly tap on a slightly darker matte eye shadow shade to give the illusion of shrunken bump

3. Layer
Think of a pimple as a tiny hill on your face. you need to apply a few thin layers to the blemish and the area around it to make the spot visually shrink. Use a concealer brush to pat it on and blend well. Your fingers are a breeding ground for bacteria, which worsens acne don't forget that.

Beauty Tips| Vitamin D For Skin

Stored Skin-care vitamins A, C and E are making room in your medicine cabinet for vitamin D, which hydrates skin, smoothes fine lines and boosts radiance.

Sun exposure is that it can cause sunburns, aging and skin cancer. You can get your daily dose of D without the sun by consuming vitamin D rich foods like yogurt, salmon and swordfish; by drinking milk or by taking supplements. But the best way to get vitamin D to your skin is by applying it directly. Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Active Vitamin D Serum-Oil, $65, dgskincare.com

Beauty Tips| Can you get hooked on Lip Balm?

Its not an addiction in the true medical sense, but yes, you can train your body to rely on lip balm. Here’s what happens: When your lips start to feel dry or get flaky, they send signal to a deeper layer of skin to produce fresh, plump skin cells. But when you put on lip balm, you slow down the signal because you’re creating a barrier layer that prevents the evaporation of more moisture, so the basal layer never gets the signal to produce new cells. When the lip balm wears off, all of a sudden your lips dry out again and your basal layer has to hurry up and start producing your lips  feel dry, you add more lip balm, which once again tells the basal layer, hey we don’t need any more skin cells. And the cycle repeats.

Beauty Tips| Why do some perfume last so long?

Fragrances are complex mixtures of natural and synthetic chemicals diluted in alcohol. That alcohol is the first thing to evaporate, which is why you should wait a few seconds before smelling a perfume on your skin. Once the alcohol is gone, the scent ingredients known as top, middle, and bottom notes develop. Top notes are fleeting (think citrus) you smell them first and they disappear within a few minutes. Middle notes create the body of the scent and are usually floral or a combo of fruity and floral. Bottom notes  are the fragrance anchors, they’re the heaviest and stick around the longest. These are often woody, smoky, or musky. So if your favorite scent has serious staying power, it probably has more base notes in the mix

Beauty Tips| EXFOLIATING SKIN to SMOOTH COMPLEXION

Hello everyone, dead cells suck the luster from the face. Not only that, but the clog your pores and highlight fine lines too. As you age the rate of cell turnover slows, causing flakiness and dullness, this are signs to step up your exfoliating signs. Here’s how based on your skin type.

OIL OR  ACNE-PRONE SKIN
Exfoliation works wonders at decongesting clogged pores, making it a must for zit- prone skin. But taking a sandpaper approach can leave you with even more bumps. Use a scrub with a small, nourishing jojoba beads, like the ones found in Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Pore Scrub which smoothes  skin and controls oil production. Apply a thin even layer to wet skin, message in circular motions with medium pressure then rinse and pat dry. Try not to exfoliate more than once a week, scrubbing too often can make breakouts worse.

NORMAL SKIN
If you’re one of the lucky ones who is neither oily nor dry, you can tolerate a variety of exfoliating techniques and do deeper pressure. Every other day, apply an alpha hydroxy-acid cleanser ( it removes dead skin cells) to wet skin and drive it in using a face-massage device in five – to 10- seconds. Try Olay Pore Minimizing Cleanser + scrub Only $7 at drugstore and Clarisonic Mia Skin Cleaning System $145 at sephora.
To take exfoliation to the max (normal skin can tolerate a more intense approach), add a retinoic acid such as the prescription cream Retin-A to your nightly routine to help speed up the cell turnover and increase collagen. Its great for improving tone and texture and reducing wrinkles.

DRY OR SENSITIVE SKIN
Sensitive types require a lighter touch and gentler products. Be sure to avoid using strong exfoliants that contain glycolic acid, which travels quickly into the sensitive skin’s fragile layers. Instead, look to physical exfoliants made with perfectly round synethetic spherules that are less likely to irritate skin the way natural ones can, try Clarins Gentle Refiner Exfoliating Cream ($28.50 at Nordstrom).Wet your face, the massage the product onto your skin using light pressure and small, circular motions (if your face is red immediately after, you’ve scrubbed too hard). Remember to do it once a week is just enough to smooth skin without drying it out.

Beauty Tips| Make the Hair Color Last

The Problem:
Chlorinated water, iron, and minerals from inside your water pipes can tint blonde hair to green.

          What to use:
Use a showerhead attachment like Resc-Hue Water Purification System ($120 at sephora.com) to filter unwanted chemicals in the water, and deep treat once a week to keep blonde locks hydrated. TRY Marc Anthony Advanced Color Protect Anti-Aging Night Repair ($10 at Ulta)

The Problem:
Over time, brown hair dye oxidizes on your strands, resulting in an orangey, rust-colored tone.

  What to use:
Wash hair with tepid water hot opens the cuticle and lets color seep out. Apply a nonpermanent dye in a cool tone on top of the color you have permanent color once a month to neutralize brassiness. Try GarnierbaShine Color Crème Medium Ash Brown ($8, at drugstore)

The Problem:
Red dye fades faster than other hue; the color    particles are the largest and escape the hair shaft more easily.

                                                 What to use:
Try to keep shampooing to a minimum to hold on to precious pigment. Once a week, twice if you shampoo every day, lather up with a color depositing shampoo. TRY Bumble and Bumble Color Support True Red Shampoo ($23, Bumbleandbumble.com)

Beauty Tips| Can you use the same moisturizer for face and hands?

You need to use different products to suit your skin’s different needs. The skin on your face tends to be thin and prone to breakouts and wrinkles, while the skin on your hands is thicker and tends to get overly dry and cracked due to washing them with soap several times a day. So your facial moisturizer should be lightweight and noncomedogenic, and perhaps contain film-forming agents that will tighten skin to help reduce appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Your hands should be a heavier barrier cream that protects your digits from harsh conditions and boost their moisture.

Beauty Tips| Sore from a workout? Some effective treatments

What I do is hold a bag of frozen peas against the sore area for 10 to 20 mins, or freeze a plastic bottle full of water and roll it over achy legs and feet for the same direction. Ice decreases inflammation and speed up recovery. Make sure to keep moving: stretching and walking gets blood flowing through the muscles for faster recovery. Hope this works for you! :)

Beauty Tips| Do eye creams really reduce wrinkles and puffiness?

Well, yes and no. These essentially moisturizers that have been modified for use on the thin skin around the eyes. While they can't work miracles, they do often contain ingredients that may offer some temporary benefits. They can smooth lines and decrease piffiness with the help of polymers that form a skin-tightening film as  they dry. But     as always, the effects vary from person to person, and the result may not be dramatically noticeable.

Is Baby Shampoo Good For Adult Hair?

Most shampoos contain sodium lauryl sulfate which some people find dries out their scalp. Baby shampoo can be smart alternative because it contains amphoteric surfactants, which are milder than SLS. The downside is that baby shampoo doesn't clean as well as shampoo with SLS. So if you use a ton of styling products, you might have to wash multiple times with baby shampoo to get it clean as you would with one lather of an SLS-based products. But that's not such a bad trade-off if your scalp is really parched.

Lipstick VS. Gloss

The average lipstick stays put for two hours, while gloss can be fleeting.
LIPTIP
BEFORE SMILING FOR THE CAMERA, SWIPE ON A MATTE LIPSTICK. THE FLASH CAN MAKE SHINY GLOSS LOOK HARSH.

The Look
Lipstick: Deeply pigmented, nodoubt-it color. whether you go for a decadent  red ora demure nude, the-coverage effect is ladylike and polished.
Gloss: A single wave of the wand  bestows a juicy, often sheer shade plus a generous dose ofsheen.
Where to Wear it

Lipstick: Ideal  for evening, work, or anytime you want to look put together or done.
Gloss: Weekends and nights out when you'd rather play up your eyes. (smoky lids with bold lips looks a little too beauty queen-ish.)

Pout Perks
Lipstick: Precise application ensures that your mouth looks defined-a bonus as you get older and lips become less pronounced.
Gloss: The sheer stuff makes your pucker appear fuller. Just a dab of clear gloss on the center of your bottom lip creates a voluptuous effect.

Durability
Lipstick: The average lipstick stays put for two hours, less if  you're sipping lattes (steamy drinks melt away color-binding waxes) or devouring potato chips (greasy foods require mouth wiping)
Gloss: Gloss is fleeting, but not all formulas have wanderlust. For extra insurance suggest moisturizing your lips balm before topping them with
gloss.

Worst place to get a Pimple..!

I have a pimple in the stupidest location right now: on the, like, top ridge of my nose, right next to my eyebrow. But while this is an annoyingly central, focal point of a location, I would not classify it as the worst possible place to get a pimple. No, that honor goes to the edge of the lip.

At least in my opinion, that's the worst possible place to get a pimple. It just has to be the most painful--other than maybe the crevice of the nose--and a pimple anywhere near your mouth always risks resembling a cold sore, which will of course prompt the inevitable herpes jokes from friends. A lip pimple is also basically un-coverable, since any concealer you apply will come off should you apply lipstick or lip balm, or you know, eat/drink anything at all. It's also basically un-poppable because doing so is just too excruciatingly uncomfortable.

Natural Beauty Tips

Sleeping on your back will prevent many wrinkles and breakouts on your face, and even wrinkles in your cleavage area.
  • Wearing clothes that are tight make you look heavier. Even a slim girl can bulge over too-tight jeans.
  • Put on a coat of clear nail polish before a colored polish to keep your nails from discoloring.
  • Being angry really does take away from your beauty now and will result in more wrinkles later.
  • Wearing less make-up makes you look younger.
  • Vitamins and minerals are needed for health and beauty, but more is not always better. Too much Vitamin A or Selenium can cause hair loss. There is nothing beautiful about losing your hair.
  • If you are unhappy with a hair conditioner, it will still make a great "shaving cream" for your legs in the shower.
  • When shaving, don't stretch the skin or you could cause ingrown hairs by shaving hair off slightly under the skin.
  • Drink plenty of water and get eight hours of sleep every day.
  • Tighten bra straps as they stretch out, or buy a new bra when they can't tighten any further, to keep the bosom looking young and perky.
  • Instead of shaving over and over, with the hairs coming in darker and thicker each time, try waxing. Waxing to remove hair will result in softer hairs each time and result in permanent hair loss after a few sessions. Aussie Nad's is an all-natural product which is easy to use.
  • Sleeping on two or three pillows at a time, or putting a wedge pillowpillow by Hudson - CC3015WQC/1 under your regular pillow will help get rid of dark circles under your eyes.
  • Exercise while dieting is a must or your skin will be too large (and saggy) for your smaller body. It is much, much tougher to tighten skin after your body shrinks than as you go.
  • After washing your face, rinse in cold water (fair-skinned people should use cool instead of cold) to close the pores and tighten the facial muscles.
  • If you are out of quick-dry spray for nails, dip your fingers into a bowl of ice-cold water. (Don't to touch the sides of the bowl.) Your nails will dry very quickly.
  • Good posture can make you look much slimmer.
  • Wearing a low heel will give you better posture than wearing flat shoes.
  • Wearing very high heels too often will give you a masculine, muscular calf instead of a feminine, rounded calf.
  • Renew thick nail polish by adding a few drops of fingernail polish remover to the bottle.
  • Make a nail polish bottle not get stuck closed, put a thin coat of Vaseline inside the lid.
  • Clean hair brushes occasionally with dish soap and borax. In a dishpan of very warm water, add 1/2 cup of borax and a few drops of liquid dish soap. Swish the brushes to stir, rinse, and let air dry. Scrub any stubborn spots with a used toothbrush.

How To Clean You MAKEUP Brushes!

Now think about when the last time was when you cleaned your makeup brushes. Cleaning our makeup brushes after use probably isn’t on the top of every woman’s “must do” list. As a matter of fact, a lot of women allow their makeup brushes to get to the point where they clean them only when the makeup is caked on (FYI: this is far past the point of when the brushes should have been cleaned!).
Makeup brushes contain bacteria which, if not cleaned, will only continue to build and build to the point where you may be doing a lot of damage to your skin. It’s essential that makeup brushes are cleaned and disinfected on a daily basis; otherwise you may be faced with a lot of skin and health issues.
To properly disinfect and clean your makeup brushes, you will need a few things:
  • Antibacterial soap (this is a must!)
  • A small dish or a bowl
  • A couple of hand towels
You can also choose to purchase more “professional” cleansing products, such as 99% alcohol, a professional brush cleaner or a disinfectant, but these are not necessary.

Step 1: Make sure that the water that you have running is warm. Wet your brush while making sure that you are keeping the bristles pointing downwards. This will help keep water out of the handle and the glue which is essential as water causes for the brushes to break down and need to be replaced more frequently.

Step 2: Take some anti-bacterial soap and squirt some into your hand. Take your brush with the other hand, and then move the bristles of the brush around in a swirling motion. Using your fingers, massage the soap into the bristles from tip to tip.

Step 3: Now it’s time to rinse! Turn on the warm water and then gently squeeze out the soap from the hairs at the top of the brush to the very tip. If you notice that your brush is still releasing makeup residue, repeat step 2 until the water rinses clean. Pat your brushes dry with a towel.

Step 4: To really clean your brushes well, take any of the optional products mentioned above and pour it into a dish. Dip the tips of the bristles into the cleaning product so that the product reaches half way up the bristles. Do not dip all the way up to the top of the brush as the hairs will naturally move the product upwards. Swirl the brush on a small towel, and then dip the brush once again into the disinfectant.

Step 5: Once finished, take care to reshape the bristles into place and lay the brushes out on a clean towel. Wait until they are fully dry before you pack them into your makeup kit once again
