Flatter your Face Shape with Eye Brows

Tweezy does it!

Round Face

Shape up
Medium-thick,V-shaped brows with high peaks elongate the face.

Brow how-to "Tweeze several hairs above the outer edges of irises to create peaks. Define with powder.

Square Face

Shapeup
Full, straight brows with short tails create the illusion of a narrow jawline.

Brow how-to Tweeze strays below brows to sharpen the lines, then blend a highlighter beneath the highest points to accentuate shape.

Heart Face

Shape up Downplay the point of the chin with thin, slightly S-shaped arches that draw attention up and out toward temples.

Brow how-to Foote recommends having a professional create the tricky shape, then maintaing at home,

Oval Face
Shape up Thick, rounded brows with tapered edges balance a long face, making eyes the focal point.

Brow how-to Pluck a few hairs from the center, starting directly above the pupil and continuing towards the temples, tweezing along the lower brow line. For natural looking definition use a brow pencil to draw short strakes in the direction of hair growth to fill sparse spots.

Match Brows With Hair

Brows frame your face and draw attention to your eyes. But the wrong color can wash you out. So the key is to fill them in so that they complement your hair but don't match it perfectly.

Brunette
If you have chestnut hair, look for honey or warm on the label. Those with chocolaty hair should go for medium brown. Try Covergirl Brow & Eyemakers Pencil in Honey Brown (above) or Midnight Brown ($5, at drugstores).

Black
Go with a dark- or medium- brown pencil ( the latter looks best on fair- skinned women with light eyes) but never black, says Foote. Try Clinique Superfine Liner for Brows in deep Brown or Soft Brown

Blonde
Brown should match the darkest shade on your head. Fill them in with a light-brown (taupe) pencil. A good Taupe brow pencil is Anastasia Beverly Hills Perfect Brow, works pretty well.

Red
Put down the copper pencil. Few natural redheads have ginger brows. A reddish brown is more flattering . Try using Lorac Creamy Brow Pencil in Auburn at Sephora really good.
